Mr. Belsey

Hello! My name is Bill Belsey. I am very pleased to be your child's teacher this year. I have taught a wide variety of grades and subjects in various parts of Canada throughout my teaching career, that now spans over thirty years. My wife, also a teacher, and I have raised our children in Cochrane, so it is a wonderful feeling to be able to teach in my own community. If you would like to learn a little more about me, and my work in education, I would invite you to visit my personal Website and blog at www.billbelsey.com.

This year, I will be teaching your child English Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies and Health.

This is an exciting time as your child embarks upon new adventures in the world of learning.  This is a year of important transitions.  Your child will be encouraged to work more independently as he/she develops a greater sense of responsibility.

Over the course of the school year, your child will develop many different skills and learn about a variety of subjects.  I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one and establish a lasting love of learning.

Here are some ways you can help your child succeed this year:

  • Celebrate your child’s success, no matter how small it may seem.  This will keep him/her enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work.
  • Ensure that your child gets enough rest, exercise and a balanced diet.  Please encourage him/her to bring a water bottle filled with fresh water daily.
  • Re. homework, I will not assign homework for the sake of having homework. I will try to give students ample time to complete their work in class. Some projects, such as Book Reports in Language Arts, will be assigned well ahead of time, so there will always be ample time to complete these projects as well. If your child has unfinished work from class, it may need to come home to complete from time-to-time.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.  The best way to reach me is by email, bbelsey(a)rockyview.ab.ca.
